Water around the chimney
A water stain on a ceiling or wall near the chimney sends most people to a roofer. The water can be coming in through the roof, the flashing, the crown, the cap or the brick itself. We check all of them, so the repair goes where the leak is.
Repair or rebuild
Knowing the difference comes from experience. A few cracked bricks or a stretch of failed mortar can usually be repaired in place. When a section of the chimney is loose, leaning or coming apart, rebuilding that section is often the repair that lasts. We'll show you what we see and why we'd go one way or the other.

Every chimney is different, so this work is priced after we have looked at yours.
- How much of the chimney is affected, and whether a section can be repaired or has to be rebuilt.
- How tall the chimney is and how hard the roof is to work on.
- Materials, such as brick matched to the house or a cap or cover made to size.

How do repair quotes work?
Repairs start with an inspection. We show you what we found, go over the options, and send you a written quote. Nothing starts until you've approved the quote.
Do you always recommend the biggest repair?
No. Sometimes a chimney needs a major repair. Other times a smaller targeted repair can solve the problem and save the homeowner significant money. Knowing the difference comes from experience.
Can you give me an estimate from pictures?
Yes. Send us pictures of your chimney and we can give you a rough idea of what the work involves. Any estimate from pictures is preliminary and is not a final price until we visit the property and inspect the job in person.
What does a chimney inspection cost?
A standard chimney inspection is $49, and that $49 is credited toward any repair or service we perform following the inspection. If you move forward with recommended work, the inspection fee goes toward the cost of the job.
