Lake houses

A chimney on a lakefront house takes wind and weather straight off the open water. That's hard on crowns, caps and the mortar near the top of the chimney. On houses right on the water, we pay close attention to the side of the chimney that faces the lake.

Bigger houses, more flues

Houses built from the 1980s through the 2000s often have two or three fireplaces, some wood and some gas, venting through one tall chase or through separate chimneys. When you book, tell us how many fireplaces the house has so we plan enough time for all of them.

Stone and brick veneer

Many West Bloomfield houses have stone or brick on the front and siding elsewhere, and the chimney often follows the same pattern. Veneer on a framed chase looks like a solid masonry chimney from the street, but it's built differently and wears differently. An inspection tells you which one you have.

Caps and covers for tall chimneys

Tall chimneys and chases need caps and covers made to fit them. We measure each one and quote a cap or cover that fits, including custom sizes.
