Inspection and cleaning

Chimney inspection for $49

A standard chimney inspection is $49, and the $49 is credited toward any repair or service we perform after the inspection. We inspect the chimney inside and out, then walk you through what we found in plain language before you spend anything on repairs.

What happens during the visit

  1. You pick an arrival window

Book online and choose a 3-hour window, or call us. You get a confirmation right away and a reminder before we come.

  2. We start at the fireplace

The firebox, the damper and the part of the flue we can see from inside the house.

  3. Then the outside of the chimney

The brick and mortar, the crown on top, the cap, and the flashing where the chimney meets the roof.

  4. We walk you through it

You hear what we found in plain language: what's in good shape, what to keep an eye on, and anything that needs work.

What a chimney inspection is

A chimney inspection is a check of the whole system: the fireplace or appliance at the bottom, the flue that carries smoke up and out, and the chimney on the roof. We look at what condition each part is in and whether anything needs attention.

If something does, the inspection is where that conversation starts. You see what we saw before anyone talks about a repair price.

When people book one

  • The fireplace hasn't been looked at in a while and cold weather is coming
  • You bought the house and don't know the chimney's history
  • You've noticed something: a water stain near the fireplace, crumbling brick, a rusted cap, a smell from the fireplace
  • Someone quoted you a big repair and you want another look before you spend the money

Camera inspection, add $75

See the inside of your own flue

Add a camera inspection for $75 and we put a camera through the flue so you can see the inside of your chimney for yourself, the same view we're looking at.

It adds about 30 minutes to an inspection or cleaning visit. Choose it when you book online.

Questions

More in questions and answers.

What does a chimney inspection cost?

A standard chimney inspection is $49, and that $49 is credited toward any repair or service we perform following the inspection. If you move forward with recommended work, the inspection fee goes toward the cost of the job.

How long does a visit take?

Plan on about an hour for an inspection and about two hours for a cleaning with inspection. A camera inspection adds about 30 minutes. The 3-hour window you pick is for when we arrive.

Can I see the inside of my chimney?

Yes. Add a camera inspection for $75 and we put a camera through the flue so you can see the inside of your chimney for yourself, the same view we're looking at.

Will you explain what you found?

Yes. We walk you through what we found in plain language so you know where things stand before you spend anything on repairs.

What is a Level 2 chimney inspection?

Everything in a Level 1 inspection, plus the chimney areas in the attic, basement and crawl spaces, and a camera inspection of the inside of the flue. Commonly done when a home is sold, when the system is changed, or after a chimney fire or storm damage.

Can I book online?

Yes. Book an inspection or cleaning online and choose a 3-hour arrival window. You'll get a confirmation when you book and a reminder before the visit.
