Chimney sweep, inspection and repair in Huntington Woods

Huntington Woods calls itself the City of Homes, and it's mostly brick: Tudors, colonials and bungalows built between the 1920s and the 1950s on tree-lined streets.

Chimneys with detail

Tudor-style houses tend to have the most interesting chimneys on the street: tall stacks, patterned brick, and corbels that step out near the top. Those details are also where water collects and where mortar wears out first.

When one of these chimneys needs work, the repair has to keep the details. We match brick and mortar color to the original and rebuild decorative courses to the shape they had.

Original flues

Clay tile flue liners from the 1920s and 1930s can crack, or separate at the joints, without anything showing on the outside of the chimney. A camera inspection puts a camera through the flue so you can see the inside for yourself. It's a $75 add-on to an inspection or cleaning.

Houses that have been updated around the chimney

A lot of Huntington Woods houses have had additions, new kitchens and new mechanical systems over the decades. When a furnace or water heater gets replaced, the way it vents can change, and the chimney it used to share doesn't always get looked at. An inspection covers every flue in the chimney, including the ones that don't serve the fireplace.

Buying in Huntington Woods

Houses here don't come on the market often, and when one does, the inspection period is short. Call us early in yours for a Level 2 inspection, which covers the chimney areas in the attic and basement and the inside of the flue.

Questions

What does a chimney inspection cost?

A standard chimney inspection is $49, and that $49 is credited toward any repair or service we perform following the inspection. If you move forward with recommended work, the inspection fee goes toward the cost of the job.

Can I see the inside of my chimney?

Yes. Add a camera inspection for $75 and we put a camera through the flue so you can see the inside of your chimney for yourself, the same view we're looking at.

What is a Level 2 chimney inspection?

Everything in a Level 1 inspection, plus the chimney areas in the attic, basement and crawl spaces, and a camera inspection of the inside of the flue. Commonly done when a home is sold, when the system is changed, or after a chimney fire or storm damage.

Can I book online?

Yes. Book an inspection or cleaning online and choose a 3-hour arrival window. You'll get a confirmation when you book and a reminder before the visit.
