The township around South Lyon
Lyon Township wraps around the city of South Lyon, which has its own page. The township's old center is New Hudson, where Grand River meets Pontiac Trail and Milford Road, and where the New Hudson Inn has stood since the stagecoach days. Kensington, another old village, disappeared in the 1950s when I-96 and Kensington Metropark were built.

Fieldstone chimneys
The chimney in the photo is fieldstone, with a flat stainless cover on top doing the job a crown does on a brick chimney: keeping rain out of the top. If yours is fieldstone, or a chase faced with it, the joints between the stones are the other place water gets in. Mortar around round stones is thicker than on brick, and when it cracks, water runs behind the stone.
Stone and chase repairs
On a fieldstone chimney we repoint the open joints and reset any loose stones, matching the mortar color to what's there. On a framed chase, the usual repair is a new chase cover made to fit it. You see photos of the damage before we quote either.
A newer house you just bought
