Built before it was a city
Taylor didn't become a city until 1968. By then the township already had tens of thousands of people, and most of the houses they lived in had gone up after the war. The typical house is a modest ranch with one brick chimney.
A chimney with no fireplace

A crown on a chimney from the 1950s or 1960s has been through sixty-some Michigan winters. Water gets into the hairline cracks, freezes and opens them up a little more each year. Ranches with a fireplace
Where a Taylor house does have a fireplace, the chimney usually carries two flues side by side, one for the fireplace and one for the furnace or water heater. We check both on every visit. Over sixty years, some of these fireplaces were closed off by an earlier owner and some got gas logs. If you don't know what was done to yours, tell us when you book and we'll find out.
